छोला
Hindi
Etymology
From Hindi छोलना (cholnā, “to skin, peel”), from Prakrit छोल्लइ (chŏllaï, “to skin”), from unattested Sanskrit *छोल्ल् (*choll, “to peel, skin”) (from the way chickpeas are dehulled from their pods), probably borrowed from Dravidian.[1] Compare छीलना (chīlnā, “to skin”).
