An onomatopoeic root likely shared with Dravidian; compare Tamil சூம்பு (cūmpu, to suck, fondle with the lips), Kumarbhag Paharia [script needed] (cumqe, to kiss). Note also चूष् (cūṣ, to suck).[1]
