Inherited from Middle Hindi چاند (cand /cā̃d/) (c. 1503),[1] / چند (cnd /cand/) (c. 1435),[2] from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀘𑀁𑀤 (caṃda),[3] from Sanskrit चन्द्र (candrá).[4] Doublet of چَنْدا (candā).
