Borrowed from Classical Persian دراصل (dar asl, “essentially, substantially, actually”), from در (dar, “at, in”) + اصل (asl). By surface analysis, دَر (dar) +‎ اَصَل (asal). Compare Punjabi دَراَصَل (daraṣal).
