Etymology 2
Inherited from Prakrit 𑀪𑀸𑀤𑀺 (bhādi), from Sanskrit भाति (bhā́ti, “to shine, gleam”) (from the root भा (bhā)), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰáHti, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰéh₂-ti (direct reflex: بھائے (bhā'e). The infinitive is from Sanskrit भा (bhā) + -अन (-ana) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-). By surface analysis, ਭਾ (bhā) + -ਣਾ (-ṇā).[4]
Verb
بھاݨا • (bhāṇā) (intransitive, Gurmukhi spelling ਭਾਉਣਾ)[5][6]
