Etymology

Borrowed from Greek ρόκα (róka, distaff), from Italian rocca (distaff), with secondary contamination from the verb اورمك (örmek, to knit, braid, plait).

اوركه • (öreke) (definite accusative اوركه‌یی (örekeyi), plural اوركه‌لر (örekeler))

  1. distaff, a device to which a bundle of fibres are attached for temporary storage, before being spun
