Old Armenian
Etymology
From earlier *կարհ (*karh) (compare բահ (bah) for the development), borrowed from Middle Iranian *kahr (whence also Old Georgian კა(ჰ)რაული (ḳa(h)rauli)), from Old Iranian *karθra- (“equipment”, literally “making”), a derivative of Proto-Iranian *kar- (“to do, make”), from Proto-Indo-European *kʷer- (“to make”). The Iranian etymon is cognate with Persian کالا (kālā, “household furniture or utensils”) (from *kahrak?), Khotanese [script needed] (kāṭhaṃjsuva, “robbers?”) (if it contains [script needed] (kāṭha-, “equipment, tool”)), Khwarezmian [script needed] (kʾlyk, “goods”), and Sanskrit कर्त्र (kártra, “spell, charm”). First etymologized by de Lagarde 1866.
