Etymology

Inherited from Old Slovak grajcár, probably from Hungarian *grajcár, a dialectal variant of krajcár, ultimately from German Kreuzer. Cognates include Carpathian Rusyn ґрайца́рь (grajcárʹ), Polish grajcar, Serbo-Croatian крајцар / krajcar and Slovak grajciar. Doublet of Крайцар (Krajcar).
