Inherited from Proto-Ketic *ɯnam-bʌnsaŋ-qo (“eight”), derived from Proto-Yeniseian *Hɯnʌ-bʌnsʌ (“eight”) + Proto-Yeniseian *qagʌ (“ten”), the first part of the compound derived from Proto-Yeniseian *Hɯn (“two”) + Proto-Ketic *bʌnsʌ ~ *bʌnsaŋ (“does not exist”, non-agreeing predicate element).[1]
Alternatively, analyzable as a compound of ын (ɨ̄n, “two”) + бәньсяӈ (bə́nʲsaŋ, “no, not, does not exist”) + ӄө (qō, “ten”) . This, in turn, yields the following operation, 10 − 2 = 8.
