From Proto-Italic *wourō, a perfect stem formed to Proto-Indo-European *wreh₁- (“to find”), whence also Ancient Greek εὑρίσκω (heurískō) and Old Irish ·fúair (third-person singular preterite of fo·gaib (“to find”)).
