Etymology
From Byzantine Greek ουριάζω (ouriázō), with epenthetic -λ- from Italian urlare (“to scream, howl”), from an earlier ούρυοῡμοι (oúruoūmoi) + -ιάζω (-iázō), ultimately from Ancient Greek ὠρύομαι (ōrúomai, “to howl”).[1]
