Etymology
From þolinmóður (“patient”, adjective) + -i f (abstract noun suffix). Cognate with Faroese tolinmøði f. Compare also Norwegian Nynorsk tolmod n, Danish tålmod n, Swedish tålamod n, and Old English þolemōd n.[1]
