Career

Zhang came to international attention at age 17 when she won the gold medal at the 2024 U20 World Wrestling Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, in the women’s freestyle 50 kg event.[2]

In 2025, she made her senior debut at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Amman, Jordan, where she reached the final in the 50 kg category and earned the silver medal after losing to North Korea’s Won Myong-gyong.[3][4]

At the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, Zhang advanced through the qualification rounds by defeating Turkey’s Evin Demirhan and Italy’s Emanuela Liuzzi. She went on to beat Venezuela’s Nohalis Jimenez in the quarterfinal and Mongolia’s Munkhnar Byambasuren in the semifinal. In the gold medal match, she faced Won Myong-gyong of North Korea and lost 8–2 on points, taking the silver medal.[5][6][7][8]
