Sobieszewo [sɔbjɛˈʂɛvɔ] (formerly German: Matthishof) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Przybiernów, within Goleniów County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[1]
In the 960s the area became part of Poland after Mieszko I defeated the local Slavic tribes. It later passed under the control of the Holy Roman Empire and in the modern era formed part of Germany until 1945. After the defeat of Germany in World War II, under the terms of the Potsdam Agreement, the region, including Sobieszewo, was reintegrated into Poland.[2][3] For the broader history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
