Tamil Nadu Grama Bank (TNGB) is a regional rural bank headquartered at Salem in Tamil Nadu, India. The bank is jointly owned by the central and state governments and sponsored by the Indian Bank. It is under the ownership of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
Tamil Nadu Grama Bank was formed on 1 April 2019 by the amalgamation of the erstwhile Pallavan Grama Bank and Pandyan Grama Bank, as per GOI Gazette Notification No. 363 dated 28 January 2019.[2][3]
History
Pandyan Grama Bank
Pandyan Grama Bank was an Indian rural bank (RRB). It was established on 9 March 1977 under Section 3 (1) of Regional Rural Bank Act 1976. It was created under the aegis of the Indian Overseas Bank. The Head Office of the Bank is situated at Sattur, covering undivided Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli districts
Pallavan Grama Bank
As part of the restructuring process initiated in 2005, RRBs sponsored by the same banks were amalgamated to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Pallavan Grama Bank was an Indian Regional Rural Bank headquartered in Salem,Tamil Nadu, India. As per Government of India Notification It was established in 2006 as a Regional Rural Bank as per Regional Rural Banks Act of 1976. By amalgamation, on 31 August 2006, of the following two banks, Adhiyaman Grama Bank (Estd. 27-12-1985), and Vallalar Grama Bank (Estd. 19-06-1986) both sponsored by Indian Bank, to participate more energetically, in the upliftment and development of Rural Farm Sector and Rural Non-Farm Sector. It was under the ownership of Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
Adhiyaman Grama Bank, under the sponsorship of Indian Bank came into existence on 27.12.1985 covering Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts with its Head Office at Dharmapuri.
Vallalar Grama Bank, also under the sponsorship of Indian Bank, came into existence on 19.06.1986, and covered undivided South Arcot district(bifurcated into Cuddalore and Villupuram districts) with its Head Office at Cuddalore.
- According to Gazette Notification No. 363 dated 28 January 2019, the Government of India has amalgamated Pandyan Grama Bank sponsored by Indian Overseas Bank and Pallavan Grama Bank sponsored by Indian Bank into a single Regional Rural Bank named Tamil Nadu Grama Bank(TNGB). This new entity has come into existence from 1 April 2019 and the Bank is sponsored by Indian Bank, and its head office is located in Salem.[4]

The Regional Rural Bank logo selection process involved a public poll conducted by NABARD in June 2025 to choose a new, common logo for the amalgamated Regional Rural Banks in India, the initiative aimed at creating a unified brand identity for rural banking after the amalgamation of several RRBs. the poll allowed participants to vote on six logo concepts and nine design variations. The initiative was called OneRRBOneLogo reflecting the vision of having a single identity for the RRBs.
Area of operation
Prior to amalgamation, Pallavan Grama Bank, with its headquarters at Salem, functioned in 16 districts, and Pandyan Grama Bank, with its headquarters at Virudhunagar, functioned in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu.
After amalgamation, the bank is operating in 37 districts of Tamil Nadu except Chennai, with its headquarters at Salem.

- Government of Tamil Nadu (15%): ₹7.04 crore
