On September 12, 2025, 38-year old Silverio Villegas González was shot and killed by an unnamed United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer while trying to flee a traffic stop in the Franklin Park suburb of Chicago, Illinois.[1] ICE said that González seriously injured an ICE agent while fleeing, prompting an agent to fire at González. However, bodycam footage showed no ICE agents received any injuries.[2][3]

González had lived in Chicago for twenty years and had no criminal history.[4][5] He was killed after he dropped his children off at school.[6]
