BlackRock World Mining Trust is a British investment trust dedicated to investments in mining and metals. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.[1][2]
History
The company was established by Mercury Asset Management as the Mercury World Mining Trust in October 1993.[3] After Mercury was acquired by Merrill Lynch & Co. in 1997,[4][5] it became the Merrill Lynch World Mining Trust in December 2000.[3] Following the merger of Merrill Lynch Investment Management with BlackRock in February 2006,[6] it adopted the current name in April 2008.[3] The chairman is Charles Goodyear.[7]
