The 1977–78 season was the 8th season of Paris Saint-Germain FC.^[1] PSG played most of their home league matches at the Parc des Princes in Paris, but also one at the Stade Bauer, with an average attendance of 21,754 spectators per match.^[1]^[2] The club's president was Daniel Hechter until January 1978, when Francis Borelli replaced him.^[1] The team's manager was player-coach Jean-Michel Larqué.^[1]^[3] Mustapha Dahleb was the team captain.^[4] PSG finished eleventh in Division 1 and reached the round of 32 of the Coupe de France. Carlos Bianchi was the club's top scorer this season with 39 goals, 37 of them in the league.^[1]
