Dipetalonema ist eine Gattung der Filarien mit 38 Arten.[1] Sie sind Parasiten bei Säugetieren ind den Tropen und Subtropen, einige können auch den Menschen befallen. Die Parasiten befallen die Unterhaut, die Serosa und die großen Blutgefäße. Die Übertragung erfolgt durch Stechmücken. Tiermedizinisch am bedeutendsten ist Dipetalonema evansi, der die Blutgefäße von Kamelen befallt.[2]
Merkmale
Das Kopfende ist seitlich erweitert. Der Ösophagus ist in einen muskulösen und einen Drüsenteil gegliedert. Die beiden Spicula sind dünn und deutlich verschieden, ihr Größenverhältnis variiert zwischen 3,8 bis 4,8:1. Eine Leitstruktur für die Spicula (Gubernaculum) ist vorhanden. Die Larven (Mikrofilarien) sind bescheidet.[3]
Systematik
Hodda (2022) ordnet die Gattung in die Tribus Dipetalonematini, Untertribus Dipetalonematinii,[1] Lefoulon et al. (2015) in die Hauptklade ONC4 der Onchocercidae.[4] Zur Gattung gehören folgende Arten:[5]

Synonyme sind Acanthocheilonema Cobbold, 1870, Alafilaria Yates & Jorgenson, 1983, Chenofilaria Kou, 1958, Dasypafilaria Eberhard, 1982, Deraiophoronema Romanovitch, 1916, Hepaticofilaria Ortlepp, 1961, Loxodontofilaria Berghe & Gillain, 1939, Molinema Freitas & Lent, 1939, Mönnigofilaria Skrjabin & Schikhobalova, 1948, Orihelia Chabaud & Bain, 1976 und Skrjabinaria Lubimov, 1927.[5] Die Gattung Dipetalonema wurde in der Vergangenheit immer wieder breiter oder enger aufgefasst, so dass die Synonymisierungen und die systematische Stellung einiger Arten uneinheitlich gehandhabt werden.[6]
