Borrowed from Japanese 絶対領域 (zettai ryōiki, literally “absolute territory”). Originally a reference to the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, where 絶対恐怖領域 (zettai kyōfu ryōiki, “absolute terror field”) refers to a force field impenetrable by conventional weapons.
