From Proto-Athabaskan *caɬ-g̑, and therefore cognate with Ahtna tseł (“awl”), Tsuut'ina tsił (“axe”). Equivalent to ttheyh (“move an elongated object”) +‎ -ɬ (“instrumental suffix”).
