Etymology

Plural of tisoria from Latin (ferramente) tonsorĭa, from tonsus. Compare Spanish tijera, Galician tesoiras, Portuguese tesoura, Catalan tisores. The -i- may be explained due to influence from Old French cisoires, ciseaux.
