Etymology

Borrowed from Arabic مَسْجِد (masjid, mosque), from Imperial Aramaic 𐡌𐡎𐡂𐡃𐡀 (msgdʾ /⁠masgəḏā⁠/, place of worship). Doublet of lmsid.
