Etymology

Inherited from Medieval Tashelhit تامغرا (tameɣra, “banquet”), from Proto-Berber [Term?] (“banquet, wedding”), from *ăɣrəʔ (“to call, to invite”). Synchronically the verbal noun of غر (ɣr, “to call, to invite”).

Cognate with Ghomara and Tarifit tameɣra (“wedding”), Central Atlas Tamazight and Senhaja de Srair ṯameɣra (“wedding”), and Tunisian Berber tamaɣra (“holiday, wedding”).
