Inherited from Medieval Tashelhit تاڢوكت (tafukt, “sun”), from Proto-Berber *ta-ʔfuḱ-t (“sun, sunlight”)[1], from *ʔ-f-w (“to be bright, to shine”) (whence Tashelhit faw (“to be luminous”)).
