Alternative forms

The form skirom is also known, but only in a song context sung by a Russian, when the sound e became unstressed (because of the rules of the Russian speech when the ending -om became stressed, but probably only for rhyming purposes).

Etymology

Probably from Russian шкерить (škeritʹ, “to gut fish, remove the scales from fish”) or Norwegian Nynorsk råskjera (“to gut fish”) + -om.
