Borrowed from Persian رباب (rubāb),[1] from Arabic رَبَاب (rabāb); similar forms exist in many languages where the instrument is played, such as Pashto رباب (rabāb),[2][3] Punjabi ਰਬਾਬ (rabāb),[4] Hindi रबाब (rabāb).[5]
