Etymology

Blend of rounded +‎ rectangle. In 1981, a function for quickly creating rounded rectangles was added to the Apple program LisaGraf (later renamed QuickDraw) created by Bill Atkinson[1] at the request of Steve Jobs, with the program referring to this shape as the "RoundRect."[2]
