Perhaps from Cree [script needed] (pipsissewa, breaks (stones in the body) into small pieces) (compare ᐲᐏᓷᐤ (piiwiswew, he or she cuts pieces off someone)), or perhaps from Abenaki [Term?] (kpipskwáhsawe, flower of the woods).
