Cognate with Malecite-Passamaquoddy nikuwoss (“my mother”), Munsee ngúk (“my mother”), Ojibwe ninga (“my mother”), Menominee nekiah (“my mother”), Penobscot nikáwəss (“my mother”), Cree ᓂᑳᐃᐧᕀ (nikaaiyy, “my mother”), Northern East Cree ᓂᑳᐧᐄ (nikaayii, “my mother”).
