Calque of Sranan Tongo moiboi, from moiboifudada (“Casanova, lady-killer; braggart”). Equivalent to mooi (“pretty, beautiful”) +‎ boy (“guy, boy”). Popularized in the Netherlands and Belgium in the 2010s.

1. (informal) attractive male; (chiefly Suriname) Casanova, lady-killer; (chiefly Netherlands, Belgium) pretty boy, himbo
   • 1924 October 21, “Uit de Rechtzaal [From inside the courtroom]”, in De West‎^[1], page 2:

     Bij het verlaten van de zaal, vatten de twee dames vuur. De verloofde van Elastiki is buiten zichzelve van verontwaardiging, omdat de andere vrouw opmerkt, dat haar oogappel een redi nengre (roode neger) is. Smalend spreekt zij van Mooi-boy.

     As they leave the chamber, the two ladies ignite. Elastiki's fiancée is beside herself with indignation because the other woman remarks that her loved one is a light-skinned Negro. Smirkingly, she speaks of a pretty boy.
