By surface analysis, miss- affixed to a substantivized derivation from either känna or kunna. Attested on Uppland Runic Inscription 909 (Q105808110) as ᛘᛁᛋᚴᚢᚾ (miskun). Compare Danish miskund, Icelandic miskunn.
