Inherited from Classical Persian مَن (man), from Middle Persian 𐫖𐫗 (man, me (early), I (later)), from Old Persian 𐎶𐎴𐎠 (m-n-a /⁠manā⁠/, gen.sg. of 𐎠𐎭𐎶 (a-d-m)), from the gen.sg. of Proto-Indo-Iranian *aȷ́ʰám, which is from Proto-Indo-European *eǵh₂óm.
