Inherited from Proto-Vietic *t-moːŋ. Attested in Thiền tông khoá hư ngữ lục in a pre-XVII century translation, possibly by Tuệ Tĩnh, as 𭋥, a combination of 口夢 (MC khuwX mjuwng|mjuwngH) (modern SV: khẩu mông or khẩu mộng).
