liberal elite (plural liberal elites)

  1. (politics, derogatory) A stereotype describing a wealthy, educated class perceived as conveniently championing progressive policies and causes that don’t threaten their elite status (e.g. social liberalism, environmentalism), while dismissing those that do (e.g. wealth redistribution), and therefore seen as hypocritical.
