Etymology

Inherited from Vulgar Latin *juglāre, syncopated form of Latin jugulāre, iugulāre (“to slay, to slit (someone’s) throat”), with a nasal infix added later, or possibly through a Vulgar Latin intermediate root *junglāre < *jungulāre. Compare Aromanian giunglju, giungljari.
