glycoprotein (plural glycoproteins)

1. (biochemistry) A protein with covalently bonded carbohydrates.
   • 2001, Julian Sprung, Invertebrates: A Quick Reference Guide, page 13:

     Their skeletons are built on the framework of a secreted glycoprotein matrix, most commonly cemented together with secreted calcium carbonate to form a shell, but sometimes imbedded with gathered foreign mineral particles.
