Cognate with Mehri gīdōr (“wall, cairn, pile stones”), Phoenician 𐤂𐤃𐤓 (gdr, “wall”), Hebrew גָּדֵר (gadér, “wall, fence”) and Arabic جِدَار (jidār, “wall”).
