dardhahanë

Albanian

Etymology

A blend of dardagan (in shambles, in ruins) and the ending -hanë common to many buildings, like kasaphanë, berberhanë, kovaçhanë. The shift to /ð/ might have occurred by contamination with dardhë (pear) or dardhan (peasant, farmer), similarly to what happened to bardhak.
