Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Athabaskan *čʷəǯʷ (“dry wood, firewood”). Cognate with Western Apache chizh, Chipewyan tsez, Beaver chvch, Carrier tsez, Sekani tsvz, Ahtna tsets, Jicarilla chish.
Has also been compared to Ket өксь m (ōksʲ, “tree; stick, twig”).
