Borrowed from a Romance language term ending in some variant of the diminutive suffix -illa; likely Portuguese hanuquilha / hanukilha. Ultimately from the same source as Hebrew חֲנֻכִּיָּה (khanukiyá), which derives from Judeo-Spanish. Doublet of chanoekia.
