Usage notes

In Portugal, the form câmara is much more widely utilized, although some speakers employ the variant câmera orally.

In Brazil, câmara is used in the sense of deliberative body (e.g., Câmara dos Deputados), while câmera is used for the optical device. The use of câmara in the latter sense is dated.
