aprugnus
Latin
Alternative forms
- aprūnus
- aprūgineus
- aprīnus
- aprīneus
Etymology
Uncertain; from aper + an unclear suffix, Linder (2002) compares its ending with that of caprigenus.[1] See however aprūgineus, which points to *aprūginus. The form aprūnus is also found in the place of aprūgnus place in some editions, it might either stem from a simplification of the gn or stand for an ablaut variant of aprīnus.
