Tumbuka

Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Bantu *-jánʊda (to withdraw something from the Sun). This verb is not ascribed to zone N, but given that this verb is the reversive of -anika (to spread out to dry in the Sun), and the fact that a reversive form of the proto-Bantu verb is given, it is likely that it derives from this verb.

Verb

-anula (infinitive kwanula)

  1. reversive of -anika
    1. (reversive) to gather up again
