anti-Cushitism

Etymology

From anti- +‎ Cushitism.

Sense 2 references the anti-Zionist "Minnesota Was Promised to the Somalis" meme, which parodies the belief of the Holy Land being promised to Jews by facetiously claiming that the land of Minnesota was promised to Somalis. It was done in response to the crackdowns in November 2025 on Somali immigrants in Minnesota.[1] In this sense, anti-Cushitism refers to Somalis by the broader ethnolinguistic grouping Cushite in analogy to the manner in which Jews are referred to by the equivalent grouping Semite in the word anti-Semitism.
