akiosexual
English
Alternative forms
- akoisexual, akoinesexual
Etymology
From akoisexual, itself a common shortening of akoinesexual, which was coined by Tumblr user cisphobeofficial from a- (“lacking, without”) + Ancient Greek κοινή (koinḗ, “common, shared”) + -sexual on 18 May 2014. By metathesis of oi into io, likely due to rebracketing of interconsonantal -o- + -sexual as one element *-osexual. That is, by association with the [x]-o-sexual pattern seen in homosexual, heterosexual, sapiosexual, robosexual, etc.
