From Moroccan Arabic قيطون (qīṭūn, qayṭūn, “tent”), from Arabic قَيْطُون (qayṭūn, “tent”), from Aramaic קִיטֹונָא (qīṭūnā) / ܩܱܝܛܘܿܢܳܐ (qayṭōnā, “bed chamber”), ultimately from Ancient Greek κοιτών (koitṓn, “bed chamber”).
