affectless schizoid
English
Adjective
affectless schizoid (not comparable)
- (psychiatry) Exhibiting one of the four subtypes of schizoid personality disorder as defined by the American psychiatrist Theodore Millon. Includes features of obsessive–compulsive personality disorder
Traits
- Passionless, unresponsive, unaffectionate, chilly, uncaring, unstirred, spiritless, lackluster, unexcitable, unperturbed, cold; all emotions diminished. Combines the preference for rigid schedule (obsessive-compulsive feature) with the coldness of the schizoid.
Usage notes
- These subtypes are not recognized by the DSM-5 or ICD-11.
- Any individual with schizoid personality disorder may exhibit either none or one of the different subtypes (Millon believes pure personality variants to be rare; instead, personalities typically manifest as a blend of a primary type with a secondary subtype)
