Translingual
Letter
Z̧ (lower case z̧)
- (romanization) used to transcribe the Arabic letter ظ.
Synonyms
Kabyle
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /d͡z/
Letter
Z̧ (lower case z̧)
Usage notes
In Kabyle orthography, z̧ traditionally represents the affricate /d͡z/, paired with ţ for /t͡s/. Because the affricates are morphologically conditioned, the INALCO standard does not use z̧, instead representing the underlying consonant (e.g. zz) for pan-dialectal consistency.
