  1. working day (day of a week on which work is commonly done; usually any day other than Sundays and public holidays)

Usage notes

  • Saturdays are legally considered Werktage in the German-speaking countries and one can rely on this definition in government or other highly official contexts. Otherwise, however, Saturdays may be excluded, so one should double-check if necessary.
